Gunnison Restaurant Week runs Friday, October 16, through Sunday, October 25. Each participating business you check in at earns one entry toward a pair of custom Romp skis, and no purchase is necessary. A few of the stops are open only a handful of hours in that window, and several of them close on Sundays and Mondays, so covering the whole list comes down to the two Friday-and-Saturday stretches.
The Gunnison Chamber runs the event with a free digital passport. At each participating business you scan a QR code, and each unique check-in gives you one more chance at the prizes. Besides the Romp skis, there are three prizes of two Monarch Mountain lift tickets each and a $50 gift certificate to Gene Taylor's Sporting Goods. The passport goes live when the event opens on October 16.
The Chamber's page says 19 businesses are taking part and you can earn up to 19 entries, but its roster names 18. Plan around the 18 on the list and keep an eye out for a late addition. The Chamber hasn't published a drawing date yet.
The 18 named stops are 1880 Tapas & Spirits, Blackstock Bistro, Buckel Family Wine, Cake Me Away, Double Dragon, Garlic Mike's, High Alpine Brewery, Jermaine's, Luna Bakery, Mario's Pizza & Pasta, Patcharee's Kitchen, Palisades, Sky Thai Pho & Sushi, The Coffee Trader, The Dive, The Powerstop, Tributary Coffee Roasters and W Cafe.
Most of the list is easy to reach. High Alpine Brewing at 111 N. Main St. posts daily hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tributary Coffee Roasters at 120 N. Main St. is open daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Powerstop at 905 N. Main St. opens at 7 a.m. every day, and Palisades at 820 N. Main St. serves lunch and dinner seven days a week.
Buckel Family Wine pours small-batch, minimal-intervention Colorado wines, including Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and rosé. Its tasting room at 1018 Highway 135, Unit B, is listed as open Fridays and Saturdays from 2 to 7 p.m. In this window, that means October 16, 17, 23 and 24, four afternoons of five hours each. No other participant has a narrower window, so build the rest of your plan around it.
Next comes 1880 Tapas & Spirits at 206 N. Main St. It's open Wednesday through Saturday from 4:30 to 9 p.m. and closed Sunday through Tuesday, with a Spanish-style tapas menu the restaurant says changes daily. That gives you six evenings out of ten.
Luna Bakery describes 208 E. Tomichi Ave. as its new retail location and has added take-and-bake pizza to its breads and pastries. Its hours change from day to day. On Monday it's open 3 to 7 p.m. only. Tuesday through Friday it runs 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and it's closed Sunday.
Patcharee's Kitchen cooks Thai food to order, with curries, soups and what it calls roadside favorites. It's open Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 7 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday, and it shuts its doors from 2:45 to 3:15 p.m. each day while the staff eats lunch.
Put those schedules on a calendar and the two Sundays and the one Monday stand out.

Blackstock Bistro at 122 W. Tomichi Ave. may belong in the closed column too. Its website gives two different schedules. One says the regular menu runs Thursday through Tuesday with a ramen menu on Wednesdays. The other lists kitchen hours of Monday through Saturday, 5 to 9 p.m., closed Sunday. The Dive's site also points visitors to its social media for current hours. Treat both as stops to confirm before you head out.
The Sundays work best for the stops that are open every day: Tributary, The Coffee Trader, High Alpine, Palisades, The Powerstop and The Dive. The Monday is a good night for Luna's late-afternoon hours and for the stops whose hours didn't show up anywhere we checked: W Cafe, Jermaine's, Double Dragon, Sky Thai Pho & Sushi and Mario's Pizza & Pasta.
Most of the list sits in three stretches of town.
Two stops are out on Highway 135. One is Buckel's tasting room. The other is Garlic Mike's at 2674 Colorado 135, which says dinner service starts nightly at 5 p.m., asks guests to call for hours, and has closed its River Bar for the season. Patcharee's own site gives its address as 806 N. Main, while the tourism partner listing says 804. Look for the building at either number.
Pairing Buckel and Garlic Mike's on the same Friday or Saturday gets both highway stops done in one drive. Buckel closes at 7 and Garlic Mike's starts dinner at 5, so those two hours are when the pair fits together.
Here's one plan built on those limits. It assumes you follow it about as loosely as most people follow plans.
If you skip Buckel or 1880 on October 16 and 17, you have one more Friday and Saturday to catch them, and then the window closes.
The passport opens two weeks after a closing on Tomichi. The Gunnison Country Times reported on October 2 that the Starbucks at 501 W. Tomichi Ave. had closed as part of a nationwide round of store closures. A note on the door told customers, "this week, we made the very difficult decision to close this Starbucks location."
Four Restaurant Week stops serve coffee or open early. The Coffee Trader at 700 N. Main St. opens daily at 6 a.m. and offers drive-through service in Gunnison. Tributary roasts its own coffee and runs a café on Main Street. Jermaine's serves Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee along with ice cream, sandwiches and shakes. Cake Me Away opens at 7:30 a.m. on weekdays. That's four check-ins you can collect before work, from places you might drive past anyway on your way down Main.
Gary and Hillary of Crested Butte Homes follow Gunnison's Main Street and Tomichi storefronts the same way they follow its homes, week by week. If you own in Gunnison and want to know where your home's value stands this fall, request a free home valuation and we'll go over it with you, maybe over a coffee from one of the stops above.
